Our goal is to redefine psychotherapy based on the current state of the science. To keep the useful therapy practices and toss the useless. Expertise

Expertise is a core value at Align. We work very hard to know what we are doing. We don't believe it's enough to know how to apply useful technique. We need to know "why" a particular therapeutic technique will work or won't so we can explain it to you if you have questions. All licensed therapists are required to complete continuing education as part of their license. For us, "continuing education" is a daily commitment to the latest research and process improvement.

We're pragmatic

Another core value at Align is pragmatism. We want to use what works and to help you get your life back on track as quickly as possible. We don’t want you to be our client forever. We want to help you and get you back to your life. The sooner the better. And in a way that feels natural and intentional.

We're relaxed

We take our work VERY seriously, just not ourselves. There's no rule that says effective therapy has to be serious. Great therapy, life-changing therapy, can be conversational, relaxed, and even fun. But just in case tears are needed. We've got the tissues ready.

Therapy tailored to you

We are different because we fit the way of working to you. Not you to the way of working. While other therapists might try and squeeze you into their therapeutic box our proprietary framework is created to fit the intervention to your unique needs.

We use your strengths to address weaknesses

Because the human mind is one of process and integration we leverage your mental "strengths" to repair and support "weak" processes. This means greater confidence resilience built on what you are already good at.

No "L"abels

At Align we like to talk about little "l" labels and big "L" labels. We see little "l" labels as healthy. They help us name our experiences. Like when we notice we are feeling "anxious" or "depressed." It's labeling our experience, like when we are "hangry." "I'm sorry honey, I'm hangry!" On the other hand, big "L" labels are limiting, and more importantly, untrue. To say you are "Anxious" is to mentally put yourself into some weird limiting box about who you are. Choose your label, slap a capital letter on it, and what it's effect. I don't think you will like it.  That's why we will work like devils not to "L"able you. Sure, we've all got different "problems". That doesn't mean we need to label ourselves as being a "Problem".  That said, the Labels are necessary for insurance reimbursement. If you are wanting to submit a claim for insurance then we will give you a Label. We will even tell you if you want to know what we think and why. But we won't like it :)

Responsive communication

We believe in being responsive. You shouldn't have to wait for days or wonder if your therapist got your call, email, or text message. Try us :) and you'll see. Send us a request for consultation and you can expect a response by the end of the day.
